HAT History

HAT has provided an ambulance service to 84 villages in Visavadar Taluka and helped to transport on average 300 cases every year since 2000 to the nearest Medical care centers in Junagadh and Rajkot.

HAT has held numerous medical camps viz. eye camp, dental camp, apart from having educated the people on hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, sciatica etc. through its programs of experts reaching out to society. Eye camps have been conducted for the last 11 years and each year 500 to 800 operations have been carried out. Over 100 villages were searched to look for patients.

HAT cares for elderly homes in 3 locations with over 250 elderly in total. Due to their needs of medical attention are greater, HAT operates clinics at all the locations with doctors visiting regularly.

In 2009, Health Aid Trust (HAT) started building a 172 bed hospital in Chaparda, Visavadar taluka in Junagadh district of Gujarat, India with the assistance of a donor from Mumbai. Chaparda is a hamlet situated on the foothills of the Girnar mountains and surrounded by the Gir forests and is 33 kms from Junagadh city. The hospital is crucial for medical assistance for close to 250 villages with a combined population of over 600,000. These people have very limited access to medical assistance and in case of any emergency, have to travel for up to 100 kms to Junagadh or 200 kms to Rajkot for any serious illness. Further, this treatment is expensive for them as many of them live below the poverty line. The proposed facilities at the Hospital will include Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Medicine, Ophthalmology, Dental & Orthodentistry, ENT, Pathology, Dermatology and Gynaecology.
